It is highly recommended that all users keep their wallet encrypted at all times. To encrypt your wallet, please follow the listed steps.
1. Click on settings, then Encrypt Wallet
2. Type in a secure password twice and DO NOT lose this
3. Write down the password and store it in a secure area if need be
4. If you do not remember this password, you will not be able to access your coins
5. Click OK
6. Read the warning reiterating steps 3 & 4
7. Click Yes
8. Read the warning noting the change in wallet.dat backups
9. Click OK, the wallet will close
10. Open the wallet again and you will see the wallet is encrypted
11. To safely stake your coins while keeping the wallet encrypted, click unlock wallet in the bottom left corner
12. Make sure "For staking only" is checked, and enter your password.
